Oud Sapphire is a serene homage to oud, one of the most alluring materials aromas in perfumery. Boadicea the Victorious is passionate about oud and the power and majesty it brings to fragrances. Nearly all the perfumes contain degrees of oud, depending on the depth and drama required.

Oud is a costly material, the unique odour is created by a fungus Philophora parasitica, that only affects around one in fifteen trees in the Aquilaria genus. This triggers a response in the trees that transforms the heart of the wood into a fatty, dark aromatic wood. This is chipped, steam distilled and treasured. 

Real oud has a pungent animalic woodiness, that can have facets of dark treacle, church smoke, aged rum, sherry, vanilla pods and pipe smoke. Burned for centuries in religious and cleansing rituals, oud has also been used for medicinal purposes as well, the scent is considered soothing for mind and body. 

Oud Sapphire wraps the oud in powdery ambrette, saffron and black pepper. Osmanthus exalts the oud over rich resins, woods and iris. The oud smoulders with seductive cunning, drawing out the configured depths of what lies beneath with lingering effect.
